Blender Resources List - Tutorials, Tips and Best Practices

Image
The purpose of this post is to share videos, articles and other resources that have been helpful to me in my journey of learning more about Blender. The software has been an amazing tool for both 2D and 3D works of mine. I have a YouTube playlist with a lot of these videos saved, but unfortunately, there's no good way to organize or categorize them there without creating several separate playlists, which I do not want to do. Therefore, I thought I'd do that here and share it with y'all while at it. Keep in mind that this is a living post and should be updated in the future as I find more useful resources. Also, make sure to also check any links for written resources available down below as they're often very informative and not so easy to find in video format. Enjoy! ^^ Modelling Topology Matte Painting - Easy Camera Projection in Blender - Camera Perspective Matching in Blender - 360 Panorama Render in Blender - Baking Lighting, Shadows, Textures and Reflections in Ble

Desperate Artists - And Why They Aren't Getting Commissions

Image
I have personally dealt with desperate artists and designers hunting down clients for commission, and it was not a very comfortable experience, I'll tell you that. There was this one time when I posted a character turnaround for a Sonic OC I had just created where I mentioned it would be very useful as a reference whenever I commission 3D artists for a model of the character. That was just me regularly tweeting my art and merely mentioning the word commission, not saying that I would do so. However, the comments started coming. There's nothing more annoying than somebody trying to sell you a service when you didn't even request it in the first place. The doesn't happen only on Twitter! It happened to me quite a few times on LinkedIn, where I present myself a bit more professionally and not quite as much as a Sonic Artist. Just recently, a stranger connected with me on LinkedIn simply to DM me with a generic sales pitch that they probably send to multiple people at a tim

Process Breakdown - Resident Evil R.P.D.

DISCLAIMER This is a repost of an article I wrote on another blog of mine that I wanted to share here. It's about my process of painting the R.P.D. As you can see, the post is basically a series of screenshots of the original post, that I posted in the blog on my professional website. If you're interested in seeing the original post where it was originally posted, you can find it here.

Hello Again! Some time passed and I got done with another batch of commissions. Actually, I completed 2 batches between this and the last commission post! Improving Your Line Art - Tips On How To Achieve Higher Line Quality

Image
Character by @Amanda_Hedgehog . Artwork done as commission and modified for the sake of this post. Here's the original one. There are concepts in Art that are usually associated with disciplines such as painting, shapes, forms, composition, tonal values, but oftentimes are forgotten when thinking about lines. After all, lines are more than just simple strokes of a pen or pencil on a flat surface. The line has quality, different styles, a meaning. Lines can indicate depth, form, volume, and value. It can make or break a piece. Lines can be particularly difficult when we are just starting to draw as it requires accuracy but also looseness. It needs to flow and look confident in order to create a high-quality piece. It also needs to be simple for the sake of clarity and fluidity. It's easy to feel lost when we are just starting out, not knowing the reason what we are doing does not look as good as the artwork of other artists surrounding us. In this article, I will be sharing with

Review: HUION KAMVAS Pro 24 4K Drawing Pen Display

Image
It's been a while since I don't post anything here (mostly because I don't really have much time or what to say), but today I have something worth sharing. Recently I purchased a HUION KAMVAS Pro 24 4K as I was in need of this work equipment to be able to have a hybrid workspace, some days working from home, others going to the studio. I've had experience with a few different displays in the past, from the cheaper HUION ones to the more professional Wacom ones. I was initially considering purchasing a Wacom at first, considering how good it felt for me to draw on it at school and work. Especially when I had previously used other HUION models, which while good, didn't feel as good as the Cintiqs. However, in the end, I decided to invest in HUION's higher-end display mostly because of the price and desk real-state. What I've been thinking of it? It's surprisingly very good! Having previous experience with Wacom Cintiqs, this one is at par with it, with som

Work/Life Balance - And Why It's Impossible To Achieve

Image
Balance between work and life is truly a beautiful concept! The idea that work never gets in the way of your life, your family and your personal time and that you can accomplish both in a perfect balance is appealing! However, after being through college and currently my career with what many people consider pretty good time-management skills, I can tell you for sure that this utopian concept does not exist. At least, not in the way you think. Now, I am not here defending the idea that you should ditch your personal life, friends and beloved ones and work your ass off, covering inhuman hours in a single week. That would be hypocritical of me, a person that usually starts my working day at the usual 9am-10am and clocks out at the end of the day, doing something else unrelated afterwards. However, I've seen close friends and people within my social circle with a distorted understanding of what a balance between work and life is. An understanding that actually makes your life more str
